The importance of this system design becomes apparent when critical specimens are sent to the lab with an expected timely turnaround. This design is also important because not all hospitals and manufacturing facilities have the resources to purchase a fully automatic pneumatic tube system with stations installed in all of their priority areas. Each system uses diverters, or routers, to control the direction of the carrier as it travels through the system. Expanding the system is as easy as adding a diverter, a new station(s), and make a simple program change. There's no need to shell out big bucks for new controls. Multi-Master Station systems are also available. This makes it possible to have a lab based system act as a pharmacy based system. The cost of adding a Master Station to the pharmacy is minimal compared to converting to a fully automatic pneumatic tube system. The functionality of the computer control and the Touch Screen Interface provides many features not available on other systems: Click on the topics (in blue) to open the descriptions. When finished, simply click on the description to close it again.   1. Expandable Substations can be added with just a simple change to the Touch Screen software.   2. Soft Delivery System As a carrier arrives at a station, it falls into the station on a cushion of air. The carrier lands at no more than 2-3 miles per hour, which makes sure even your most fragile items are safely delivered.   3. Audio Feedback Each touch screen features a "beep" output to signal carrier arrival and system alarms.   4. Optional Hardcopy A printer can be attached to the Master station to provide printouts of all transactions and alarms.   5. Information at your fingertips By using the touch screen, you can access all kinds of information, such as transaction time, verification of carrier arrival, and transaction count..   6. Pharmacy Security A pharmacy-based system can send secured drugs by using this feature.   7. Pending Dispatch The computer control allows unattended carrier dispatch either by priority or a FIFO scheme depending on the traffic demands.   8. Off the Shelf Parts An important feature of the Enterprise Series is the use of "off the shelf parts" and not proprietary parts. You should be able to go to most of your local hardware stores in order to get replacement parts for nearly all our components. In fact, only the circuit board in each station is proprietary. In order to remove any doubts, we will provide pricing for the board up front with the rest of the system price.   9. Maintenance Maintenance can be performed from the Master station using the Touch Screen. The blower and each diverter can be controlled to perform purges as well as other routines. 10. Automatic Self Purge If an error occurs during a transaction, the system will automatically attempt to correct the problem. If this attempt is unsuccessful, the system will then enter "Alarm Mode." If successful, the system status will return to normal. 11. Displays Station Name The touch screen displays all station names, making memorized station number unnecessary. It also does many more features too numerous to mention.
